That shape is everything when it comes to choosing the right photo. Here's what works, what doesn't, and why it matters.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eStanding, front-facing is the gold standard.\u003c\/strong\u003e A dog standing upright and facing the camera fills the oval beautifully from top to bottom. The body is tall and relatively narrow, the face is centered, and there's natural visual balance. Think of the goldendoodle on our product photo — that's exactly the pose we're working with.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eSitting photos can work, but come with a catch.\u003c\/strong\u003e When a dog sits, the widest point of their body shifts to the bottom — haunches spread out, paws splay forward. That means the oval either crops the head to fit the width, or the dog looks bottom-heavy and off-center. If sitting is the only option, a tight crop from chest to top of head can sometimes save it.
