How do I send my pet's photo?

After placing your order, send your photos right away to hello@slydawgstudio.com with the subject line: "Photos for Custom Badge Reel Order #_____" (fill in your order number from your confirmation email). The faster we get your photos, the faster we get started.

Send us a few options so we can pick the best one. The ideal pose is your pet sitting and looking at the camera. We crop to the head and torso, so photos where your pet is facing forward and filling the frame work beautifully.

What makes a great badge reel photo:

• Clear and in focus. Blurry photos produce blurry prints.
• Good lighting. Natural light is ideal. Avoid heavy shadows or flash glare.
• Your pet sitting and facing the camera, head and chest visible.
• Minimal background clutter. A simple background helps your pet pop.
• No heavy filters. We need to see the real colors of your pet's fur and eyes.
• If using a professional photographer's image, you must have permission to reproduce it.

How long does production take?

Once your art is finalized and approved, either your photo is confirmed or your digital illustration is approved, your order ships within 2 to 4 business days. The digital art upgrade may add a short turnaround for the illustration step, but we move quickly.

A photo badge reel uses your pet's photo as-is, printed directly onto the disc. No digital art required. The digital art upgrade is a hand-crafted illustrated portrait we create from your photo: vibrant colors, crisp lines, and a style that tends to look even better than the original photo. Customers who choose the art upgrade almost always prefer how it turns out. The illustrated file is also saved to your account so you can use it on future products.

Is the image waterproof and durable?

Yes. Sublimation printing bonds the image permanently into the disc surface, making it waterproof and fade-resistant. The disc is secured with professional epoxy glue for a lasting hold. Badge reels themselves are a wear item. The retractable mechanism will eventually need replacing with regular use, and since your art file is saved, reordering is quick and easy.

Do you make badge reels for cats and other pets?

Absolutely. Dogs are our specialty but we love all pets. Cats, rabbits, birds. If you love them, we will put them on a badge reel.
