How to send your photo — and what makes a great one

The keychain fob is a tall, narrow oval — 3.125" tall and 1.5" wide at its widest point (the center). That shape is everything when it comes to choosing the right photo. Here's what works, what doesn't, and why it matters.

Standing, front-facing is the gold standard. A dog standing upright and facing the camera fills the oval beautifully from top to bottom. The body is tall and relatively narrow, the face is centered, and there's natural visual balance. Think of the goldendoodle on our product photo — that's exactly the pose we're working with.

Sitting photos can work, but come with a catch. When a dog sits, the widest point of their body shifts to the bottom — haunches spread out, paws splay forward. That means the oval either crops the head to fit the width, or the dog looks bottom-heavy and off-center. If sitting is the only option, a tight crop from chest to top of head can sometimes save it. Send it and we'll let you know.

Profile and side-angle shots don't work for this shape. The oval is portrait-oriented. A dog in profile is a landscape subject — you'll lose the face, the expression, everything that makes the photo worth printing. Front-facing only.

Photo quality matters more than you think. We're printing on a 3" fob, but a blurry or low-resolution image will still look blurry at that size. The best photos are sharp, well-lit (natural light is ideal), and taken at eye level with your dog — not from above looking down. Avoid screenshots from social media, which compress image quality significantly.

Please send at least 6 photos for us to choose from. This is the single most important thing you can do to get a great result. More options means we can select the sharpest image, the best composition for the oval shape, and the most flattering angle. We'll pick the one that prints best and let you know which one we used.
